Why is the Gujarat Police afraid of Roses and Mahatma Gandhi?

Anhad had planned to distribute roses and ask people questions about Mahatma’s contribution to the Indian Freedom Struggle and then give CDs of Lage Raho Munnabhai to 50 winners.

A call came from the police 10 minutes ago saying your programme will cause law and order problems, so we cannot give permission.

We were not given permission on 10th and 12th for holding small corner meetings. On those two days we were kept hanging till 7.30pm. We were told the permission was coming, it never came.

We have decided to court arrest under protest.

Rally Programme: 4.00-4.30pm-Flower Tribute to Bhagat Singh and democratic songs.

Rally will start at 4.30pm after paying flower tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh. It will stop for 5 minutes each on the way. 10 questions about Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution to the India’s Freedom Struggle will be asked from the audience. The 10 people giving correct answer will be gifted a CD of ’Lage Raho Munna Bhai’.

Roses and especially Desinged leaflets will be distributed on the way to spread the message of peace and harmony to the people of Mani Nagar.

Route: 4.30pm Hadkeshwar Circle- Khokhra Circle-Khokhra Village-Mani Nagar Railway Crossing, Mani Nagar Railway Station-AMTS Bus Stop-6pm
